Why Make Crispy Battered Fish in Ninja Speedi
One of my most popular air fryer recipes is the Air Fryer Fried Fish. When I got the Ninja Speedi Rapid Cooker & Air Fryer, I wanted to make a fried fish variation that leverages its unique features similar to my Ninja Speedi Breaded Chicken.
Ninja Speedi is a unique air fryer type because it has a Steam & Crisp feature that allows even cooking, browning, and air frying ingredients without drying them out.
This is perfect for seafood like cod which can get easily dry when overcooked!
You’re going to love making crispy battered fish in Ninja Speedi. This is one of the easiest under 20-minute recipes you can do for seafood.
How To Make Battered Fish in the Ninja Speedi
Here’s how to make the quick and easy Ninja Speedi Battered Fish.
In a small bowl, mix oat flour and Old Bay Seasoning.
Pat cod fillets dry and cut them in half crosswise. Season with salt and pepper.
Coat cod fillets in mayonnaise and then coat with flour mixture.
Add 1/2 cup water on Ninja Speedi pot. Place Crisper Tray on elevated position. Evenly spread out the fish fillets on the crisper tray.
Close the Ninja Speedi lid and turn the unit on. Flip the switch to Rapid Cooker and select Steam & Crisp.
Set the temperature to 450F (or 230C) and set time to 6 minutes.
Press Start. Note: It takes around 4-8 minutes to build steam before crisping.
When complete, open the lid.
Enjoy this crispy battered fish using the Ninja Speedi!
Tips for Battered Fish
If you want a full rice meal with battered fish, check out Ninja Speedi Mexican Fish & Rice but use the battered fish for the fish.
If you’re having a hard time getting the breading to stick, try double coating. Before coating with mayonnaise and flour mixture, coat with a first layer of flour mixture. This also helps lock in the fish moisture even though Steam & Crispy already helps with this.
If you don’t have Mayonnaise, you can use beaten Eggs.
If you don’t have Oat Flour, you can use All-Purpose Flour. I used oat flour because it made the fried fish feel like it’s breaded than just simply battered, giving that extra crunch.
If you don’t have Old Bay Seasoning, you can use your own choice of seasoning/blend. Using pantry ingredients, I like a mix of salt, black pepper, granulated garlic and paprika.

Can You Use This Ninja Speedi Battered Fish Recipe on the Ninja Combi?
With the Ninja Combi All-in-One Multicooker, Oven and Air Fryer, you might be wondering if the Ninja Speedi Battered Fish will work for the Combi as well.
I don’t have a Ninja Combi, but, on researching the functionalities and customer feedbacks who have both, here are my findings:
Ninja Combi seems to be just an updated version of the Ninja Speedi.
The Combi basically has the same features as Ninja Speedi.
It’s just that Ninja Combi is bigger and in a oven-style, loading from the front instead of the top.
Instead of Speedi Meals, you use Combi Meals function.
The Speedi has inner pot and crisper tray and the Ninja Combi has a bottom pan and bake tray for the two-level cooking.
Whereas the Speedi is good cooking meals for 1-2 people, the Combi is good for families and parties.
Customers who have used both Speedi and Combi say the recipes are interchangeable because of the same setup and features.
So it seems like you can make this battered fish on Ninja Combi as well.
